The Best Autoresponder For Affiliate Marketing – 2024

best autoresponder for affiliate marketing

Have you ever gotten an email after signing up for something?

Yes, we all get those. But did you know that those emails are automatically sent to you as soon as you sign up? This is done through something called an email autoresponder.

How does that work? How can you automate your emails? It’s not complicated at all! As a novice, I never understood how automated emails were sent. After starting my affiliate marketing career and devoting several months to it, I finally decided to create an email list. And of course, I also learned about email automation.

You are losing a tonne of high-quality traffic to your affiliate offers if you are an affiliate marketer and have not yet created an email list. I regret not starting an email list earlier as well.

In this article, I am going to show you the five best autoresponders for affiliate marketing and also reveal the one that I use for managing my email list.

Before getting into the list of best autoresponders for affiliate marketing, for those of you who aren’t familiar with an autoresponder, let’s take a look at what an email autoresponder is.

If you want to skip this part, you can navigate the article from the table of contents below.

Disclosure: Some links in this article are my affiliate links. If you buy any product through any of these links, I’ll get a small commission at no extra cost to you. Such a commission helps me to stay motivated and produce more such content. Thanks in advance if you buy anything from my affiliate links.

With that being said, let’s start without further ado.

What is an autoresponder?

In email marketing lingo, an autoresponder or an email autoresponder is a tool used to automatically send emails to people subscribing to your email list without needing to do anything every time an email is sent.

Yes! A pre-designed email is sent automatically to anyone who signs up for your list.

It is important here to note that an autoresponder is different from email automation. Email automation isn’t limited to welcome emails but also helps you send emails to your subscribers over a period of time (on autopilot).

For example, you can choose to send the following:

  • A welcome email on the first day
  • A second email about the resources you use on the second day
  • The third email regarding a book that has taught you blogging, on the third day
  • And so on…

This article’s focus is on an email autoresponder.

Now let’s dive right into the list of the best autoresponders for affiliate marketing.

5 Best autoresponders for affiliate marketing

I won’t list out 10 or 15 options. It will only confuse you more. So here is a list of my 5 best email autoresponders for affiliate marketing.

1. GetResponse

GetResponse is the tool I use for my email marketing needs.

I have been using it for a while now and it works absolutely fine for me. GetResponse has a free account that will be sufficient for beginners. The free account lets you store up to 500 contacts (which is more than required).

To be honest, I had been using the free version for a long time and purchased a paid plan last month.

What’s the best part about GetResponse is that it is not just an orthodox email marketing service but offers a lot more than that. It is a complete marketing arsenal for your business.

It lets you build landing pages, create and host webinars, SMS marketing, send web push notifications, and design conversion funnels. It also has a website builder. What more could you ask for?

GetResponse Pricing (For 1000 contacts)

  • Free plan: Free forever

The forever free plan lets you store up to 500 contacts, create 1 website, send 2500 emails per month, and test and utilize the premium features for the first 30 days.

  • Email Marketing: $15.58 per month (12-month plan)

Lets you store up to 1000 contacts, and send unlimited emails per month (apart from the free plan features)

  • Marketing Automation: $48.38 per month (12-month plan)

Apart from the features of the Email Marketing plan, it provides email automation, webinar hosting, and sales funnel designing.

  • E-commerce Marketing: $97.58 per month (12-month plan)

Apart from the features of the Marketing Automation plan, it provides a lot of services to people who want to sell their products online like E-commerce segmentation, Abandoned cart recovery, Promo codes, Product recommendations, and more.

All the above prices are for 1000 contacts. The prices go up based on the number of contacts you want to store in your email list.

The Free Forever plan will be the best bet for beginners as it has everything they may need.

GetResponse also offers a 30-day free trial of its premium plans.

Another great thing about GetResponse is its affiliate program. If you are an affiliate marketer looking for the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing, you might as well take a look at the GetResponse affiliate program.

It is a lucrative opportunity for all affiliate marketers. It offers two options: Either you can earn flat $100 for a paid plan you recommend or you can choose to earn a 33% recurring commission as long as the person you referred renews his/her plan.

2. ConvertKit

Many well-known affiliates utilize ConvertKit, which is largely regarded as the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing.

All types of marketers can benefit from the capabilities that the ConvertKit email marketing platform has to offer in order to maximize the effectiveness of their email marketing campaigns. Bloggers with affiliate websites make up one of the largest groups of ConvertKit’s clientele.

It features useful list-building tools, and a visual automation builder, and gives you great control over the customer experience as an affiliate.

ConvertKit offers a WordPress plugin for list building that you can install on your affiliate websites to automatically insert sign-up forms. ConvertKit makes it simple to begin growing your list from blog posts.

ConvertKit pricing (For 1000 contacts)

Just like GetResponse, ConvertKit also has a free plan but it allows 1000 contacts (a little more than GetResponse), but the pricing is a bit more expensive than GetResponse.

These are the following paid plans (for 1000 contacts)

  • Creator: $25 per month (billed annually)

The plan offers unlimited landing pages, unlimited forms, unlimited broadcasts, automated email sequences, visual automation builders, etc.

  • Creator Pro: $50 per month (billed annually)

Apart from the Creator plan features, it has some additional trivial features like a newsletter referral system, subscriber scoring, and advanced reporting. Not a value-for-money plan as the extra features aren’t that useful for double the price.

3. AWeber

When writing about the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing, one cannot ignore AWeber.

Aweber has extensive experience in the email marketing software industry and may provide a platform for a range of content producers, including affiliates.

Without having to be a tech whiz, it allows users to easily create responsive landing sites, load and manage contacts, send stunning emails, send immediate push notifications, and analyse results.

AWeber just began distributing a free plan that allows you to store up to 500 subscribers/contacts and send 3,000 emails.

Restricted customizability is one issue that some individuals can find aggravating. But that’s not something to be worried about as long as the prices suit you. It’s still a leading autoresponder for affiliate marketing.

AWeber pricing

  • Free plan: Free forever

The free plan lets you store up to 500 contacts, have 1 email list (GetResponse’s free plan offers unlimited email lists), 1 landing page, and 1 email automation.

  • Lite: $12.5 per month (billed annually) for 500 contacts and $22.5 per month (billed annually) for up to 2500 contacts.

This plan offers 1 email list, 3 landing pages, 3 email automation, and email analytics.

  • Plus: $20 per month (billed annually) for 500 contacts and $30 per month (billed annually) for up to 2500 contacts.

It offers unlimited landing pages, unlimited email lists, unlimited email automation, advanced email analytics, and AWeber branding removal among other trivial features.

A quick tip

  • If you are looking for the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing, then features like landing pages, website builders, and email analytics aren’t important. You probably already have a well-set-up website or blog if you are looking for the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing.
  • So choose the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing keeping in the mind the number of contacts you can store, email automation features, etc. overlooking the extra cosmetic features.

4. Sendinblue

SendinBlue is an email marketing solution for SMBs (small and medium-sized organizations) that want to send and automate email marketing campaigns, despite having a tight budget.

Simply put, SendinBlue is like a less expensive version of MailChimp that has more features and offers a free plan and a free trial.

The most important features are:

  • Drag and Drop Email Editor
  • A/B testing
  • Reports and Analytics
  • Landing pages
  • Opt-In Forms
  • Email Segmentation

Sendinblue pricing

Sendinblue offers the following plans:

  • Free: Yes, it provides a free plan with UNLIMITED contacts and a sending limit of 300 emails per day.
  • Starter: Starting from $25 per month with unlimited contacts, 20k emails per month, no Sendinblue logo, basic reporting and analytics.
  • Business: Starting from $65 per month and offers everything in the Starter Plan plus marketing automation, A/B testing, send-time optimization, and advanced statistics.
  • Enterprise: Tailored solutions to fit your needs.

I know what you are thinking. Even the free plan offers unlimited contacts. The only service on the list that doesn’t limit the number of contacts or subscribers under any plan, including the free one.

This might be its BIGGEST advantage over any other service on the list.

5. Constant Contact

Constant Contact

Instead of concentrating only on email marketing, Constant Contact provides a whole range of digital marketing solutions.

Constant Contact supports your efforts to develop compelling email campaigns, develop a successful website, or boost sales using Google Ads.

Apart from being the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing according to many, the following are its best features:

  • Build your list fast with landing pages, social media lead ads, and more.
  • Connect with people where they are—via text, email, or social—all from one platform, to drive more engagement and results for your business.
  • Create and manage social posts and ads to generate awareness, drive leads and promote growth.
  • Connect with digital tools you’re already using to grow your business and sell more online, faster.

Constant Contact pricing

Constant Contact doesn’t provide a free plan but offers a 60-day free trial of its paid plans, which are as follows:

  • Core: Starts at $9.99 a month for 500 contacts and the next tier costs $35 per month for up to 2500 contacts.

The Core plan offers hundreds of email templates, sign-up forms to grow your list, post to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter all at once, integrations with popular tools like Shopify, WooCommerce, Canva, and Etsy, and engagement reporting (i.e. views, clicks, etc).

  • Plus: Starts at $45 a month for 500 contacts and the next tier costs $70 per month for up to 2500 contacts.

The Plus plan offers all the features of the Core plan, plus list-growth tools including Google ads, dynamic content personalization, automated communications (e.g. resend to non-openers), and auto-generated customer segments for targeting

NOTE: Packages have a monthly send limit of 24 times your total contacts and an overage fee of $0.002 per email.

Considering the pricing and non-availability of a free plan, it MAY not be a good option for beginners.

Now you know all the best autoresponders for affiliate marketing available on the internet.

What is the easiest autoresponder to use?

In my books, apart from being the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing, GetResponse is also the easiest and most efficient autoresponder tool to use. I have tried other options on this list and based on pricing and ease of use, I find GetResponse to be the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing that is very to use given its beginner-friendly interface.

As soon as you sign up and try every feature on the platform, you are automatically guided through super-easy tutorials on using those features.

Due to its plethora of offerings apart from conventional email marketing solutions, it is the best tool to have in your affiliate marketing arsenal.

It lets you build landing pages, create and host webinars, SMS marketing, send web push notifications, and design conversion funnels. It also has a website builder. What more could you ask for?

Moving further, let’s look at how I use GetResponse to set up my email autoresponder.

How to easily set up an autoresponder with GetResponse

Let us see how I set up my GetResponse Autoresponder.

  • From your dashboard, navigate to the ‘Tools‘ tab and select ‘Autoresponders‘.
GetResponse autoresponder
  • Click on ‘Create Autoresponder‘.
GetResponse autoresponder

On the next page, you will need to configure your Autoresponder.

First, give a name to your autoresponder. This is for your reference.

Also, select the list for which you want the autoresponder to work. A list is basically where all your subscribers’ information will be stored. You can have different lists for different purposes (for newsletter subscriptions, lead magnets, etc.) I selected the “Infoverses53” list that I had created before.

GetResponse autoresponder

Creating a list in GetResponse is very simple. Check the first post in this series to learn how to do that. I highly recommend checking out that post first. All the basics are covered in that post.

  • Autoresponder settings: Under this section, you need to determine when will the email be sent. For a welcome email, the most common is Day Zero (the same time as the sign-up time). You can also choose to send it on the 2nd day (doesn’t make sense though). If you want to send a message with a slight delay (2 hours), you can even do that. Also, select all the days on which your emails are allowed to be sent.

  • Next, select the email address which will be used for sending and receiving mail. By default, you will see the address with which you signed up on GetResponse. There is an option to add a new address. Add a new email address and confirm it.

  • Then, create a unique subject line. This is the first thing your subscribers will see.

Here comes the feature of sending emails with the subscriber’s name on them. To personalize an email, simply click on the small icon next to the emoji icon. It lets you select components like ‘name‘, ‘firstname‘, ‘surname‘, etc.

GetResponse autoresponder

Here’s an example:

Suppose a person named John Washington signs up for your email list. He will enter his first name as ‘John’ and his surname as ‘Washington’.

Now in the Subject line if you enter, “Hey [[firstname]], Welcome to Infoverses”, then the welcome email that John will see will have the subject line as “Hey John, Welcome to Infoverses” (see below). Isn’t it cool?

GetResponse autoresponder

In the next step, you are required to design your actual email. The body of the email, the header, and footer, etc. You can choose from readymade templates or design one completely from scratch.

Most of the editing process is self-explanatory and I believe you can easily do it on your own.

Next, make sure to turn on ‘Click tracking‘ as it will let you know how many people clicked and opened your emails. This way, you can figure out what works for you and what doesn’t.

Finally, if everything looks good, click on ‘Save and publish‘.

Voila! your autoresponder is now live. If anyone signs up on your email list, they will receive the email that you just designed and configured.

If you are wondering, how will people sign up for your email list and how would the autoresponder identify such people, then check out my blog post on “collecting emails from website visitors for building an email list“.

You can upgrade to a paid plan according to your needs.

Best Autoresponder For Affiliate Marketing: Final Takeaway

In the above list of the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing, all the services are industry leaders.

Each of them stands out for a variety of reasons and is an authority in their industry. And that is why it’s challenging and even unfair to choose just one of these autoresponders.

But, if you ask me for a definitive choice, I would recommend GetResponse. This is because I have been using it for a while now and there’s nothing more I could ask for from GetResponse.

I only recommend products that I personally use and have a good experience with.

GetResponse has a strong pricing edge over many others on the list. Furthermore, it is incredibly easy to use (even for newbies).

Apart from email marketing solutions, it also offers a plethora of other services like building landing pages, creating and hosting webinars, SMS marketing, sending web push notifications, website building, designing conversion funnels, and a lot more.

Now, I leave it up to you. Which one of the above services are you going to choose for your business? Is it GetResponse or Constant Contact?

If you found this article helpful, consider sharing it with people who might benefit from it and make my countless hours more meaningful.

Wish you the best!

Nice breakdown Ali. I am a MailChimp guy here but do little with my list. Everything is through commenting directly on blogs, with some social media sprinkled in, as far as maintaining solid contact.

    1. Ryan! I need to talk to you about blog commenting. Gonna DM you soon on Twitter. Thanks man!
